Combo or Rapid Antigen Tests? What are the benefits of using Combination Tests?

We are heading into the peak season for Influenza and Covid. Thankfully we now have available the all-in-one combination tests for Covid and Flu A & B.

Why is an All-in-one Combo test Important?

There are many reasons. If you know you have contracted Covid, you can then time your next booster vaccine as it is advised you wait 6 months between contracting the virus and your booster.

Also, if you need antiviral treatment. You may need treatment for the Flu, and you also may need treatment against Covid. This is imperative for the treatment of the severity of the viruses.

Knowing what you have will guide your treatment and assist recovery.

Testing is crucial because it helps prevent the spread of illness to others. By getting tested, you can keep track of your own health status and take the necessary steps to protect those around you. This includes isolating yourself, wearing masks, and keeping your hands and surfaces clean to minimize the risk of contact with others.

What if I am sick and the test is negative?

If the test is negative, try again for the next few days. Testing within the first 4 days of symptoms when viral load is at its highest for both Covid and Flu is recommended. Covid viral load can be up to 7 days. There are a lot of other respiratory viruses around, even the common cold can knock you around and make you feel very unwell.

You should always consult your GP when you have symptoms and test negative and are feeling unwell. There can be many reasons and health issues, such as pathogens and underlying health conditions that can cause respiratory illness.

We think for this approaching Flu season, the combo tests makes sense for treatment and protecting others.
