A pendulum bob is made up of a brass sphere with a hook attached to it. It works on the principle that when a pendulum is displaced from its resting equilibrium position, it is subject to a restoring force due to gravity that will accelerate it back toward the equilibrium position. A large and light pendulum bob would be affected by a significant amount of air resistance.
